Change to the minimum daily driving score needed for a Safe Day
Your safety matters to us and we’re constantly enhancing our solutions to help keep you safer. Momentum has upgraded its journey-recording platform to give you access to new Safe Dayz features. This means that you’ll have to achieve a minimum daily driving score of 80%, instead of 60%, to earn a safe day starting mid-November 2022.
Why have we changed the minimum daily driving score required for a Safe Day?
The telematics technology that underpins the Safe Dayz feature underwent an upgrade in August 2022. This upgrade involved switching telematics service providers and resulted in more consistent and accurate journey recordings. With this improvement in the ability to record and score journeys, you would have noticed that journey and daily scores have increased significantly as recording accuracy improved. Clients are recording more consistently, resulting in less non-travelling Safe Dayz, and more accurately, with the average journey score increasing from 61%, before the upgrade, to 84% after the upgrade. This improvement in journey scores contributes to the improvements experienced in the average day score, with clients’ scores improving from 61% to 81%.
We have changed the score required to earn a Safe Day from 60% to 80%, with this in mind. Understandably, this may seem like a significant change to the Safe Dayz model, however our data suggests that most members will continue to earn Safe Dayz, similar to the improvements that we have noted in the average daily scores.
Introducing the Fatigue Detection feature
Together with the above change in the daily driving score, we are pleased to introduce our new distracted driving and fatigue detection features, which enhances enhances the ability to identify and filter scoring events on the journey map. These new features will not impact Safe Dayz scoring and we are confident that Fatigue Detection will continue to support our members by being safer on their journeys, particularly during the upcoming festive season break.
Here's how you can access these new features and earn Safe Dayz:
- Make sure you have the latest version of the Momentum app installed.
- Log in to the app with your momentum.co.za username and password.
- Accept the latest terms and conditions.
- Follow the prompts to update Safe Dayz.
- Open Safe Dayz and start recording journeys.
- NB: Achieve a daily driving score of 80% or more, to earn a Safe Day!
